We were singing "You are my sunshine" and ... the sun came out!
We read quotes about Spring

Raz dwa trzy Marzanna patrzy!
One two three Marzanna's watching!

Marzannas are watching!

Winners!

Happy Spring people:

Let's go! Spring this way!

And here we throw Marzanna into the river - it will go far away !!

Welcome Spring!

Ha ha!
Remember - you are a sunshine!

Celebrating Spring

Hello everyone! This year we're not organising a public event to drown Marzanna, the Slavic goddess of winter. Instead, we'd like to encourage everyone to give Spring a warm welcome your own way, in your smaller circles of family and friends.
Here is what YOU can do:

* drown Marzanna - a Slavic rite which means a symbolic departure of winter

* make a Gaik - a symbol of the arrival of spring

* burn Maslenitsa - in Slavic mythology, Maslenitsa is a sun-festival, personified by the ancient god Volos, and a celebration of the imminent end of the winter

* invent your own way to celebrate Spring

It would be great if you shared photographs of your spring celebrations with us.
Just email them to cosmopolis10@gmail.com and we will post them on our blog.

We too will post a few pictures from our own little Drowning of Marzanna to share with all.
May the tradition live on!
