Winter must go!
We want Spring!
Trzeba w końcu przepędzić tę zimę!
It's tomorrow! The weather forecast is optimistic for after 12pm: 13 degrees and sunny. Hopefully it'll stay like that! Just in case, please, check our blog before leaving home.

Bubble makers are welcome too, so we can keep our lovely little event participants occupied.

Drowning Marzanna 2013 update
We are going to celebrate
Polish Spring Festival, Drowning Marzanna
Wear some colourful clothes, bring your kids, friends, guitar, camera!

The tradition of burning or drowning an effigy of Marzanna to celebrate the end of winter is a folk custom that survives in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Typically taking place on the day of the vernal equinox, the rite involves setting fire to a female straw effigy, drowning it in a river, or both. In Poland, this is often performed during a field trip by children in kindergartens and primary schools. The effigy can range in size from a puppet to a life-size dummy. This ritual represents the end of the dark days of winter, the victory over death, and the welcoming of the spring rebirth.
Please check the map (it's not that easy to find the place and we don't want anybody to get lost) and be aware that it’s over 10 minutes walk from the main gate of the Botanic Gardens. Make sure you arrive on time so you don’t miss the performance. Drivers can use this postcode G20 8RP.
