A magic spot

A beautiful, beautiful place. An art gallery in the greenery!

"Glenkiln Sculpture Park is a sculpture landscape in Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland. It comprises six sculptures placed in a moorland setting around Glenkiln Reservoir."

"Between 1951 and 1976, local landowner Sir William Keswick assembled a collection of works by August Rodin, Henry Moore, and Jacob Epstein. Keswick worked with the artists in siting their works in a natural landscape, and commissioned works."

Marzanna's 5 years in Scotland celebration

Here's a piece of an email written five years ago to my friend Mustafa. I was telling him that I was going to arrive in Scotland on the 20th July 2008. Those days writing a couple of lines of an email would take me a lot of time and effort. I'd look every 2nd word up in the Polish-English dictionary, and I wouldn't know which equivalent to choose to express what I wanted to say, so I'd just go for the one which looked most intriguing. And I'd sometimes make up my own words, and my own word order. Those were my first attempts at expressing myself in English...

And last Saturday I invited a bunch of friends to celebrate my 5 years in Scotland. 5 years of immersing myself in language, mastering grammar rules, acquiring new vocabulary, wondering about the meaning behind words...

My favourite books are dictionaries, my favourite pastime is experimenting with words. Naturally, words had to be the main theme of this meeting.
